About Zukan Studio
Mission

Our mission is to create illustrations and interactive web-based visualizations that effectively communicate scientific ideas. We believe that visual representations of these ideas are essential in communication of a researcher's work.

The Team

Aoi Hunsaker
Aoi creates scientific illustrations at Zukan Studio. She currently works as a member of a hearing science research laboratory at the University of Washington. Her commissioned illustrations have been used in various poster presentations, conference talks, peer-reviewed publication figures, and websites.

Maho Sasaki
Maho creates websites and interactive visualizations at Zukan Studio. She has over 6 years of experience with custom website and interactive data visualization for laboratories and other academic organizations.
What's Zukan?
Zukan (図鑑) is a Japanese word for pictorial encyclopedia. An example of a modern take on a zukan can be seen here.
Location
Zukan studio is a scientific illustration and web design LLC based in Seattle. In addition to coordinating online, we are happy to discuss our services in person if you are local!
